Our Story

Chieveley Village Hall was established in 1949 by the donation of land and buildings. Half was funded by benefactors; half by public subscription. It has since remained in the heart of the village. In common with many others, the objectives written into our Trust Deed state that it is provided "for the use of the inhabitants of Chieveley".

We have updated many times since our founding, maintaining the facility to a high standard. It is much used.

Your committee recognises that people now travel far more than did our forebears in the 1940s. Villagers benefit greatly when clubs based beyond the parish bounds bring talent and events. We are fortunate in being at a major crossroads and visitors contribute significantly to the costs of running the facility.

Our constitution requires us to be run by representatives of users, allowing a limited number of additional elected members such as our treasurer and chair. The electorate is villagers of Chieveley.

The Hall and grounds are provided for use and enjoyment. We aim to provide an efficient and effective service and delight in the joy this brings to many.

The Hall is run by volunteers who are not paid for their services.
